Champion Claims Political Snub

Sean Strickland Escorted from UFC Freedom 250 Fan Fest near White House after Fan Surge

WASHINGTON — UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland was removed from the UFC Freedom 250 fan festival on the Ellipse near the White House on Sunday evening — Flag Day — June 14 after his unplanned appearance drew a large crowd of fans, prompting security to evacuate him for safety reasons.

The incident capped a week of controversy in which Strickland publicly claimed he had been barred from the special UFC event tied to America’s 250th Independence Day celebrations. He attributed the exclusion to his outspoken criticism of U.S. policy toward Israel and comments about President Donald Trump and the Epstein files.

Strickland’s Claims of Being “Not Cleared”

In early June, Strickland posted on X that he had received a call from UFC officials informing him he “wasn’t cleared by the White House.”

“To Dana saying I wasn’t invited… Ill clarify for this to you. After my fight, Hunter said he will get it done. UFC filmed it and ... has the footage. I later got a call from the UFC saying ‘I wasn’t cleared by the White House.’”

He later clarified his remarks with sarcasm and humor, rejecting conspiracy theories while pointing to his criticism of Trump’s relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (“BiBi”) and references to Epstein:

“There isn’t an Israel/Jewish conspiracy banning me from the White House. I'm joking. I made fun of Trump being BiBis bitch and the Epstein list that doesn't exist and Trumps handlers didn’t clear me. Its that simple.”

In another post, he quipped about the broader situation: “The goy and his informant at the White House… Describes 2026 America perfectly.”

Earlier sarcastic videos and statements from Strickland claimed UFC higher-ups told him he was “not Israeli enough to go to UFC 250 [Israel] Edition.”

Security Removes Strickland from Fan Fest

Despite the claimed exclusion, Strickland attended several UFC Freedom 250 activities during fight week. His presence at the Sunday fan festival on the Ellipse near the White House, however, created immediate disorder.

According to the United States Park Police Public Information Office, the unplanned appearance triggered significant attention from attendees, resulting in disorder:

“Due to concerns for Strickland’s safety and the safety of event patrons, personnel from the U.S. Marshals Service, U.S. Park Police, and other assisting agencies evacuated him safely from the area.”

Strickland was transported back to his hotel. Officials stated he was neither cited nor arrested but was advised not to return to the venue for his own and public safety. A fan who witnessed the scene described the surreal moment: “After I saw that, I was shaking. It was like, ‘Oh my God, I’m living like a fever dream right now.’”

Strickland later posted on Instagram thanking supporters for the week and noting he may have faced a disorderly conduct citation — though authorities confirmed none was issued.

Dana White Pushes Back

UFC CEO Dana White firmly rejected Strickland’s narrative of being banned, responding with characteristic bluntness:

“Everybody’s banned, apparently. Apparently, f*cking everybody is banned. Of course Sean Strickland isn’t banned. Sean Strickland is banned from humanity, OK? We don’t want him near any human beings anywhere. F*cking shows up at Power Slap, he starts fights – and he made it very clear he didn’t want to be a part of this event, and now, apparently, (he’s saying) he’s banned.”

White noted that Strickland had previously made it clear he did not want to participate in the White House-related event.

Joe Rogan Voices Disappointment

Longtime UFC commentator Joe Rogan expressed frustration on his podcast, arguing that the only American champion should have been celebrated rather than sidelined:

“Sean Strickland was the only American champion and they wouldn’t let him come because he criticized Israel and said a bunch of Epstein stuff.”

“They should’ve celebrated the American male world champion, but instead they banned him.”

Rogan described Strickland as “actually a very smart guy” who “isn’t stupid at all.”

Context of the Event

The UFC Freedom 250 activities formed part of broader celebrations for the United States’ semiquincentennial. While promotional fan events and related programming took place near the White House, the core fight card elements were separate from the presidential grounds themselves. Strickland was never scheduled to compete on any associated card.

The episode highlights ongoing tensions around political speech, event access, and the intersection of combat sports with government-hosted celebrations. Strickland, known for his unfiltered commentary on foreign policy, free speech, and institutional power, has continued posting about the experience, framing it as emblematic of broader cultural and political dynamics in 2026 America.

As of mid-July, no further disciplinary action from the UFC or legal consequences for Strickland have been reported from the fan fest incident.
